POROUS ECOLOGIES_2026 (more info coming soon)
POROUS ECOLOGIES is a series of deep listening sessions and performances developed in New York City, 2026. The work is the culmination of LabVerde 2026 sound art residency in the Brazilian Amazon rainforest. Firstly performed on Endangered Species Day (May 15, 2026), this immersive work is a trans-sensory invitation to feel the Amazon as a vibrant, endangered web of relations and to reflect on what it means to become-with the forest in times of ecological fragility. The concert unfolds as a slow descent into nocturnal darkness, exploring trans-sensory ways of knowing into an anthropology of the night, where the humidity of the forest co-composes a shared, porous existence. A reminder that we are all bodies of water, leaking, seeping, and becoming with one another in more-than-human intimacies.
The project sits at the intersection of sound art and acoustic ecology, including elements of performance, poetry, singing and spoken ethnography. It draws on the traditions of sound ethnography (Feld, 1994) and deep listening (Oliveros, 2005) to approach auditory experience as both method and analytical lens.
